KANSAS CITY, MO — October 2, 2025 — Following the appointment of former Kansas City Mayor Kay Barnes as temporary caretaker of Jackson County government, Stacy Lake issued the following statement:
“Kay Barnes’ appointment will be a stabilizing force during this period of uncertainty. While her presence offers temporary reassurance, it does not resolve the ongoing challenges facing families across Jackson County.
I will continue fighting for a New Jackson County where fairness, transparency, and accountability are not temporary, but permanent. Our families deserve more than a caretaker government. They deserve a government that works.”
