KANSAS CITY, MO — Jackson County Legislature Chairman DaRon McGee announced Friday, October 10, that he is withdrawing his name from consideration for appointment as County Executive, emphasizing his commitment to serving the people of Jackson County in his current role.
“Although I believe I am fully qualified for the role, public service must always begin and end with putting the people first,” McGee said. “I heard clearly that many residents prefer someone from outside the Legislature to take on this position. I respect that view and remain committed to serving where I can make the greatest impact.”
McGee said he looks forward to working in partnership with the next County Executive on a range of challenging issues to improve county government, reduce the property tax burden, and rebuild residents’ trust in county government.
