Former Deputy Police Chief Challenges Incumbent

Tuesday’s primary election results in Wyandotte County’s race for mayor indicate that incumbent Unified Government Mayor David Alvey might be in for a tough challenge as he and Wyandotte County’s former deputy police chief, Tyrone Garner now move on to the general election. In unofficial results, incumbent Alvey garnered 3405 votes, slightly less than Garner’s 3,465. In total, there were five candidates in the mayor’s race.

The top two vote-getters in the primary races will vie for the top seat in the November General Election. Unofficial primary election totals for all candidates who ran in the primary for Mayor are in alphabetical order:
