The ribbon has been cut. The doors are open. And we are ready to welcome the community into our newest location.
Wyandot BHN's new Downtown Wellness Center brings to an end the years-long journey to find space and open up a service location in the Downtown KCK area. And it is opening at a time when mental health is a top concern for Wyandotte County residents. According to the 2022 Wyandotte County Community Health Assessment, 75 percent of respondents reported that they or someone in their household has experienced mental illness. Mental health was identified as the third biggest health concern in the county.
This center is designed to be a hub for emotional wellness and a place where healing can happen. With extended hours and services for both youth and adults all under one roof, our goal is to provide a welcoming and convenient environment for those seeking behavioral health support in our community.
We are excited to also be partnering with The University of Kansas Health System to operate an addictions program within the facility. This program is scheduled to begin operating in April.
