Forming yet another crest in global waves of protests sweeping in changes to ban police exercise of deadly force against citizens it’s sworn to protect and serve, the Johnson County NAACP Wednesday led a march in Prairie Village to highlight a list of “actions” to the county’s approximately 20 cities that also include Overland Park, Lenexa and Olathe.

Tagged the “Stand Up for Black Lives Silent March and Peaceful Rally,” Fred Jones, Johnson county NAACP president, cited a joint effort to include an interracial array of other community leaders, including Christian pastors and Muslim leaders. An estimated crowd of nearly 1,500 trekked from the Prairie Village Community Center near 75th and Mission Rd to the Macy’s parking lot on West 71st Street.
