Critics Speak Out
Governor Mike Parson’s decision announced Tuesday, to reject American Rescue Plan unemployment assistance that has been a lifesaver for many struggling Missouri families, is being met with severe criticism by many unemployed workers, since the COVID- 19 pandemic caused thousands of them to lose jobs as many businesses took an economic hit and were forced to scale down by either laying off workers or closing their doors altogether.
Parson said now that the less restrictive CDC guidelines are allowing businesses to open to full capacity, business owners are now experiencing a worker shortage and discontinuing the $300 per week aid, will expand the labor pool.The termination announced applies to the following programs:
