Dr. Valerie Chow Retired Local Physician, Finds Joy, Satisfaction Administering COVID-19 Vaccine

Dr. Valerie Chow is finding joy and satisfaction administering COVID-19 vaccines, not for fortune or fame, but as a volunteer, to those whose statistics have shown to be most at risk to contract the coronavirus. In fact, the spotlight to her selfless dedication comes not at her own behest.

Instead, her recognition was sparked by a retired principal, Dr. Roger C. Williams, Jr., who as a guest columnist in last week’s Kansas City Globe newspaper chose to highlight hers and the services of another health care professional on the pandemic’s cutting edge, Dr. Kizzmekia Corbitt, during Woman’s History month.

Dr. Chow is a retired anesthesiologist and sought to volunteer her services following the strikingly disproportionate spikes in contamination and death rates among black and minorities since COVID-19 was declared a pandemic during the early spring season last year
