The Dallas, Texas Police Department on Wednesday issued an arrest warrant for Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice "in regard to a serious bodily injury crash" that took place March 30 on a Dallas highway according to a story posted Wednesday on nfl.com. At K.C. Globe presstime Wednesday, Rice had not yet turned himself in. Also, an official response from the Kansas City Chiefs regarding news of the arrest warrant for Rice was not available at presstime.

Rice, 23, is facing eight counts -- aggravated assault, collision involving serious bodily injury and six counts of collision involving injury -- stemming from a chain-reaction collision that involved a Lamborghini that Rice was driving, a Corvette and four other vehicles. Four people sustained minor injuries, according to a DPD statement.

Rice later issued a statement accepting “full responsibility” for his involvement in the crash.

Theodore Knox, 21, who was determined to have been driving the Corvette, has also been issued an arrest warrant and is facing the same eight counts, according to the police statement.  After the incident, both Rice and Knox left the scene. No charges will be filed against the passengers in the vehicles according to Dallas police department.

The incident is under investigation and the NFL is reportedly “closely monitoring the developments.”
